Come Play in the Streets

oaklavia_odalc_flier

Oaklavía is a project of Walk Oakland Bike Oakland, a volunteer-driven non-profit organization. The success of their events depend on volunteers like you and partnerships with like-minded organizations and local businesses.

“Walk Oakland Bike Oakland (WOBO), founded in 2006, is a volunteer-powered organization dedicated to improving neighborhood livability, vitality, and sustainability by making Oakland a better place to walk and bike. We engage residents, workers, business owners, and commuters in education and advocacy for improving Oakland’s pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure. The East Bay Express recently described WOBO as “a tenacious yet practical advocacy group.”

WOBO has hired Karen Hester, a professional events organizer with Hesternet Productions, to coordinate Oaklavia along with a volunteer committee. Karen has produced many successful street events including the Temescal Street Fair, the Bike Away from Work Party, Berkeley Earth Day, and Out and About Rockridge.”

ODALC’s 1st Anniversary Campaign
will Inspire, Train, and Innovate.

In seven months, ODALC has inspired the lives of nearly 400 young people by connecting them to the digital economy. As a newly established nonprofit with a 100% volunteer staff, we are seeking seed funding to support expansion and training endeavors. Help us:

  • Provide hands-on digital media workshops, computer training sessions, and one-on-one mentoring, to underserved young people and struggling small business owners from low-income communities.
  • Advocate diversity and offer services in a context that is sensitive to the learning needs of each individual and inclusive to all cultural backgrounds.

Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center (ODALC) would not be possible without the charity of individual donors. Oakland’s greatest attribute has always been the abundant spirit and generosity of its people.
