“Art is everywhere; art is in the street; technology can help capture it. This workshop will help participants discover the artist in themselves and the hidden beauty all around us. Includes a hands-on digital photography exercise and quick introduction to Adobe Photoshop.”

Reason 4: Beatmaking 101
Want to learn how to make a rap/hip-hop beat? This workshop will introduce Reason, a music software program developed by Propellerhead Software. It emulates a rack of hardware synthesizers, samplers, signal processors, sequencers and mixers, all of which can be interconnected. Reason can be used either as a complete virtual music studio, or as a collection of virtual instruments to be played live or used with other sequencing software.

Oaklavía is a project of Walk Oakland Bike Oakland, a volunteer-driven non-profit organization. The success of their events depend on volunteers like you and partnerships with like-minded organizations and local businesses.
“Walk Oakland Bike Oakland (WOBO), founded in 2006, is a volunteer-powered organization dedicated to improving neighborhood livability, vitality, and sustainability by making Oakland a better place to walk and bike. We engage residents, workers, business owners, and commuters in education and advocacy for improving Oakland’s pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure. The East Bay Express recently described WOBO as “a tenacious yet practical advocacy group.”

WOBO has hired Karen Hester, a professional events organizer with Hesternet Productions, to coordinate Oaklavia along with a volunteer committee. Karen has produced many successful street events including the Temescal Street Fair, the Bike Away from Work Party, Berkeley Earth Day, and Out and About Rockridge.”
Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center (ODALC) held the grand opening of their new Internet literacy and digital co-working facility in the Frank G. Mar building located at 1224 Harrison Street, on Saturday, May 29th, 2010.
Distinguished guests that attended the launch event: Jean Quan, Dr. Kitty Epstein, and Dr. Andreas Weigend. ODALC’s service to disadvantaged youth and struggling small business owners in the community empowers them with digital literacy and technology to achieve higher career goals.
